Senior and Medical Foster Opportunities

Our senior and medical fosters are the SAINTS of our foster program. The Humane Society of Pulaski County does not euthanize animals for space and commit to giving all of our cats and dogs the life they deserve, regardless of how long that takes. As such, we sometimes have animals with special needs (expensive medicines and diets, special care, injections, etc) that would do better in long-term foster than a shelter. We provide all of the food, medicine, and training (if necessary) – you just need to provide the home and the love!

We also sometimes receive animals that are near the end of their life, and we would rather they spend their golden years in a home than a shelter. Fosters can help by opening their doors to these calm older pets. Yes, it can be heartbreaking – but it is the best gift anyone can give our deserving seniors. And again, we will manage their care and provide all the food and supplies required.

If you have room in your home and heart for these special kids, we’d love to have you as part of our program!

NOTE: Fosters must be at least 21 years old and able to transport animals to the shelter for regular veterinary appointments.
