Privacy Policy

Our Commitment to Our Donors

We will not sell, share or trade our donors’ names or personal information with any other entity, nor send mailings to our donors on behalf of other organizations.

This policy applies to all information received by the Humane Society of Pulaski County, both online and offline, on any Platform (“Platform”, includes the Humane Society of Pulaski County website and mobile applications), as well as any electronic, written, or oral communications.

To the extent any donations are processed through a third-party service provider, our donors’ information will only be used for purposes necessary to process the donation.

We do not sell or share your information with anyone

The Humane Society of Pulaski County (HSPC) has created this Privacy Policy to explain why we collect particular information and how we will protect your personal privacy within our website. The following discloses our information gathering and dissemination practices for the website located at the URL http://www.warmhearts.org

In order to fully understand your rights we encourage you to read this Privacy Policy as well as our Terms of Use. HSPC reserves the right at any time and without notice to change this Privacy Policy simply by posting such changes on our Site. Any such change will be effective immediately upon posting. Notice of a privacy policy change will be posted on the warmhearts.org front page for one week.

Because we want to demonstrate our commitment to your privacy, this Privacy Policy notifies you of:

  1. What personally identifiable information of yours is collected through the Site
  2. Who collects such information
  3. How such information is used
  4. With whom your information may be shared
  5. What choices you have regarding collection, use and distribution of your information
  6. What kind of security procedures are in place to protect the loss, misuse or alteration of information under our control
  7. How you can correct any inaccuracies in your information

Questions regarding this statement should be directed to the HSPC by sending an email to info@warmhearts.org. Please reference this Privacy Policy in your subject line.

What Information We Collect and How We Use That Information

Our registration forms require users to give us contact information that may include name, email address, format preference (HTML vs. Text), address, interests, and similar information. HSPC will not share this contact information with any other party.

Internet Protocol Addresses

An Internet Protocol (IP) address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer when you use the Internet. When you visit our site, we collect the IP address assigned to the computer you are using. IP addresses are used solely to track usage and are never used to try to identify or otherwise describe individual website visitors.

Use of “Cookies”

Cookies are widely used bits of information, for record-keeping, that are sent to a user’s computer as a small file when they view certain sites. This information makes it easier for the user’s computer during repeated viewings of the site. They can also be used to track overall site usage. At this time, because it currently makes use of a popular blogging/website-design tool called WordPress, the HSPC website submits five cookies to a visitor’s computer. We do not use these in any manner beyond their internal use by WordPress itself, nor do we monitor such internal use. There are no additional cookies used. You may configure your computer to reject our (or all) cookies; this will not prevent you from accessing our site but may slow the process of loading some of our pages. HSPC is redesigning its website with a scheduled completion date of Nov 30, 2011. The new design will not use WordPress nor will it use cookies at all.

Credit/Debit Card Transactions

HSPC uses Paypal.com to process online credit card transactions. If you click the “donate” button at the top of our home page, click any link that enables you to contribute with a credit or debit card (such as for a memorial donation), or register online for certain events such as Reigning Cats and Dogs, the information you provide is submitted to Paypal.com  via a secure (https:\\) connection and processed by Paypal as a pair of secure and fully automated wire transactions, first with your credit/debit card issuer for verification, then with our bank. No use or storage of your credit card occurs beyond the first transaction with the issuer, neither do we or our bank see this information. Upon completion of the donation or related transaction, select donor information — name, address, e-mail, donated amount, and any text in the comments section — is conveyed by Paypal to one member of the HSPC board in order that thank you letters can be sent, event tickets reserved, etc. Credit/Debit card information is not included, nor is it received by, stored by, or transmitted from the warmhearts.org website. Donors’ names are compiled into a list in our biannual print newsletter acknowledging their donations. We honor requests that a donation be anonymous when noted in the comments section of one of our donation forms.
