Be Kind to Animals

2010 ANNUAL ART CONTEST

EXHIBITION RULES: Deadline is April 15

Age Categories

Children in Kindergarten through 12th grade are eligible. Categories will be determined by number of entries.

Media & Size

Any media may be used including crayon, pencil, watercolor, tempera, acrylic, markers, colored pencil and chalk. Entries should be on paper no larger than 11 X 17 and should not be mounted.

Theme

Artwork should reflect the “Be Kind to Animals” theme and may include people and/or animals in a humane, engaging and positive manner. Artwork may include a slogan or a few words explaining the theme. Consider topics such as proper pet care, pet over-population, concern for wildlife and endangered species, unwanted pet problem, careers in animal work, adopting homeless pets, etc. ORIGINAL WORK ONLY.

Identification

Please write the name of the artist and their age on the back of the artwork. Complete and turn in the form below with artwork to: Art Contest, Humane Society of Pulaski County, 14600 Colonel Glenn Road, Little Rock, AR 72210. Submitted artwork becomes property of the HSPC and may be reprinted and auctioned for fund-raising purposes. Winning artwork will not be returned.

Awards & Prizes

Cool prizes, like pizza certificates and movie tickets, will be given in categories determined by the number of recipients. Also, certificates will be awarded based on the message, originality and creativity. An exhibit of winning artwork will be held in May, 2010.

Art Advice

Make it colorful. Fill up the whole page. Feel free to write a slogan on the picture. Our Annual Art Contest for children is a fantastic way to spread the message of love for animals. What does Being Kind to Animals mean to you? Maybe it’s spay or neuter your pets, identifying your pets with tags, never tolerating animal cruelty. Draw a picture about it and you could win.

Entries can be picked up at schools by a volunteer.
